10 Tips to Save Money on Black Friday Deals
You can make savings on Black Friday with your eyes closed, but if you know what you’re doing you can save even more money than the average person and you don’t necessarily have to stampede through the doors of your local store like a crazy person.
Here are our top ten ways and tips to make the most out of this year’s discount Black Friday deals shopping shenanigans. Take note and jot down these 10 Black Friday shopping tips or Black Friday tips.
1. Plan your day.
To do Black Friday right, you need a plan of action, especially if you aim to buy a lot and visit multiple brick-and-mortar stores.
Draw up a rough schedule and shopping list, keep your social media and other apps open, take a battery pack in case you run out of charge, and don’t forget essentials if you’re camping out or shopping for an extended period.
It’s also wise to target the most valuable items first (or the ones you want the most), in case you have a hard time finding them or they run out.
You’ll be kicking yourself if you miss out on a new laptop because you were too busy buying socks.
2. Download these apps to save money.

2. Follow your favorite brands and stores online.
If you want to make the most savings you can’t go into Black Friday blind. Be sure to follow your favorite brands and stores on social media and sign-up to their newsletters, so you’re first to know when the deals drop.
If you stick to items you typically buy anyway, then you’ll definitely make savings.
3. Buy on credit.
If you don’t have access to immediate cash, buying Black Friday bargains on credit is not a bad idea if you know you are going to benefit from the purchases and you exert some self-control.
For example, maybe you were planning to buy the item anyway but will miss out on the savings if you have to wait for your next paycheck.
You can get instant loans fairly easily online to take advantage of the savings if you don‘t currently have a credit card or aren‘t likely to be approved.
If you have great credit you might consider getting a rewards card to take advantage of the extra shopping that Black Friday tends to bring while making even more savings via the value of the rewards.
4. Compare deals
This is one of the best ways to save on Black Friday deals.
Remember just because you see a great deal at one retail store or website, doesn’t mean it’s the very best deal available.
Just like a normal day, some outlets have better prices and you should do price comparisons to find where you can make the most savings and for Black Friday 2017 predictions and Black Friday 2017 ads.
It’s not unheard of for stores to use the Black Friday hype to just get rid of old stock or to sneak through items that have not really been reduced by that much.
In some cases, electronics are even produced specifically for the day with reduced specs and performance.
5. Be first for extra deals.
As the old saying goes, ‘the early bird catches the worm’ and this certainly applies to Black Friday. Those that camp out are often rewarded with “first x number of customer” deals at retail stores, while online stores commonly begin their sales at midnight.
6. Be a team.
Working as a team on Black Friday will help you cover more ground in a shorter time and can also help you bypass single customer limits on items that go quickly.
If you don’t have a large family or group that wants to pool together, you could just make an agreement with a friend to keep an eye out for each other’s most desired items.
7. Combine with coupons.
This is one of the best ways to save on Black Friday deals.
Coupons come in various forms on Black Friday. Some deals are only redeemable with a coupon, though these are rarer as stores tend to just reduce the price on the shelf.
Meanwhile, you may be lucky enough to double-stack by redeeming a coupon on top of the Black Friday deal, though many regular coupons are not accepted during Black Friday so don’t assume you’ll be able to do this everywhere.
In the weeks and days prior make sure to check all the usual websites and newspapers to gather the best coupons.
8. Don’t just focus on Friday.
The success of Black Friday has encouraged many retailers to begin offering deals before and after Friday, including Cyber Monday (which is usually for online stores and falls on the day after Thanksgiving) and ‘Green Monday,’ which is the name given for an arbitrary day online stores announce as the last day you can order to guarantee delivery before Christmas.
On this day they often release new deals, but not every store has the same Green Monday so be sure to check in advance.
9. Haggle and price match.
Haggling and price matching is quite a new addition to Black Friday, but haggling in-particular is mostly found on higher ticket items like furniture and home improvement items and in independent stores.
Price matching is becoming more common in large chain retail stores who will do anything to beat the competition.
10. Don’t buy what doesn’t benefit you.
Ultimately, making savings on Black Friday deals is only going to be meaningful if you buy items you actually want and can make use of.
Research suggests the majority of shoppers end up spending more than they would have if Black Friday didn’t exist, suggesting that the real winners (other than the retailers) are those that have some discipline over what they buy.
These are my tips and tricks on how to save money during Black Friday. Just because it’s one of the biggest days in terms of spending and sales, it doesn’t mean that you have to spend a whole lot of money to get a lot of things you want.
You can save money and get more with the simple ideas I described above.
