Nowadays, teens are either glued on the computer or their smartphones.

I have nephews and nieces who are in their teens and all of who use these technologies. But when it comes to making money, they are the first ones to say ‘Yes’ and leave whatever it is that they are doing.

I was once a teenager minus the technologies. Back then, I would do just about anything I could get my hands into just to make some money.

Here's the reality:

While some jobs require you to have specific skills, knowledge, and experience, there certainly are jobs that don't require you to be an expert on something.

From filling out paid online surveys to reading emails, teens can do things which come naturally and are easy to do in an online setting.

There are actually online jobs for teenagers that pay. Here's what you'll gain from reading the following article:

17 Legit Online Jobs For Teens

Working from home as a teen is great because you don't have to worry about getting to and from your job and can do the work in the comfort of your own home.

As a teen, you have many side hustles to choose from to make extra money. Here are 15 legitimate online jobs for teens:

1. Completing surveys to earn extra money

Pay: $2-$115/survey

Completing paid online surveys is a job which adults can do online, but one which teens can do as well.

Signing up to complete surveys enables those under 18 to make some extra cash from home.

Some survey sites require survey takers to be over the age of 18, but not all survey sites have this requirement.

How to get started: There are websites which enable teens to make money online from home. A few of them lets you sign up in 5 seconds with your Facebook account, and you are on your way to sharing your thoughts and making money.

Here are some of them:

a. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the most famous survey sites right now (not to mention that it offers $10 sign-up bonus). To date, it has paid out over $350 MILLION to its participants and pays out over 10,000 gift cards almost every day.

You can earn money by means of looking at videos, shopping online, looking at the web, enjoying games, buying present cards, and more.

It’s free to join, and the surveys pay between 1 to 1000 SBs (or what's called Swagbucks points). Most surveys pay around 100 SBs. So, accumulating the minimum cash-out amount of 500 or $5 is easy to do.

Click here to start using Swagbucks for FREE.

b. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie is another easy-to-use, popular survey site that rewards you for your opinion. It's most likely one of the easiest to join as you only need 30 seconds to create an account.

For every survey you complete, you receive points. In Survey Junkie terms, one hundred points equal $1. Once you get 1,000 factors ($10), you can redeem them for free PayPal money or free gift cards.

Surveys take anywhere from 1 to 20 minutes to complete. Typically, the longer the survey, the greater points you can earn.

Click here to use Survey Junkie for FREE.

2. Getting paid by Swagbucks for literally doing things you normally do everyday

Pay: $5/day

As a teen, you can even make money, if you need money now, doing all of those things you normally do, like watching TV or searching the Internet.

There are websites out there where companies are looking to pay you for watching shows or searching up specific items online.

How to get started: A popular website to use for doing things you normally do and having those activities provide you with some cash is Swagbucks.

Literally, this is one of those online jobs for teens that fit really well for them.

Imagine this. With Swagbucks, you can earn cash for surfing the web, shopping, and watching television for a wide array of companies.

It's easy to sign up not to mention you'd get a $15 bonus. Plus, it's FREE to use.

Click here to activate your account, and get started doing those things you usually do for cash.

3. Tutoring online

Pay: $15-$25/hour

If you're good at a certain subject in school, you can take that knowledge and become a tutor.

There are many kids out there whose parents are looking for tutors to help them with a certain subject and that can be you!

Best of all, this is something that you can do virtually.

How to get started: Online tutor sites, like VIPKID, enable you to sign up for tutoring jobs in a virtual setting.

Some people are earning a full-time income on a part-time basis while staying home. That's something you can't easily find elsewhere.

Sign up on the VIPKID website, submit the necessary documents, and get ready to start earning some cash doing what you are good at doing.

Are there certain subjects that you excel at?

Because teaching teenagers like you is a great online job for a teen.  And you can earn a nice income while you do it.

SameSpeak is a good example of this. They are a platform that pays teenagers who are 16 years or older for teaching English online.

Your first language must be English if you wish to sign up, and at the moment, there is a surplus of coaches. This means that you must complete a verification process, and a star will be placed beside your name when you complete it.

All coaches receive lesson instructions and audio of sample lessons to serve as resources to get you started. It’s also required to have a working microphone headset and Skype to communicate with students.

Payment is done via PayPal, so ensure that you have an account open with them and it’s connected to a bank. Don’t worry if you’re under 18, as a parent or guardian can open an account on your behalf.

Tutors earn $10 for every 30 minutes of teaching that you do.

That’s $20 per hour! You could be making a seriously impressive income for your age if you take this seriously. A minimum of $100 is needed to withdraw, and payments are made every Friday.

4. Investing online

Pay: Varies depending on the investment

You might not think that a teenager would be able to invest online, but this is not always the case.

Older teens (those 18 and older) are legally able to invest in certain websites, although all investment sites and companies will vary.

If you are 18+ and thinking about investing, you're in luck, as there are quite a few investment sites which allow online investments for teens over 18.Click to Tweet

Believe it or not:

Once you start investing and seeing your investment grow, you'd want to invest more and, then, you're investment will eventually take care of you in the form of passive income.

How to get started: If you are 18+ and want to invest your money, check out Acorns (for those who only have cents and a few dollars to invest) and Betterment (for those who have a little bit more money to use), two online investment sites.

Just sign up on either website and get started making your money work for you. This is one of those online jobs for teens that will give them income after income. Click here to learn how to invest in stocks.

Many companies now outsource their content jobs and are looking for creative individuals such as yourself to help them achieve their content goals.

How to get started: Visit freelance writing websites and sign up to work as a freelance writer to earn some extra cash from home.

Believe it or not, writing articles can be one of those online jobs for 14 year olds.

If you like writing and want to get paid doing it, there’s a way to make it happen.

While sites like Upwork and Textbroker require you to be at least 18 years old, some sites like Helium Network doesn’t require such age.

If you are at least 13 years old, you can become a freelance write and make extra money from creating contents.Click to Tweet

Helium will match assignments to your interests such as product descriptions, newsletter, blog posts, among others.

What I like about Helium Network is that its dashboard is user-friendly and easy to navigate. In addition, there are tools you can use while you’re working on your pace.

So, you aren’t alone in the process. If you’re looking for online jobs for teens, this is it.

Here are some places to get some online jobs for teens about writing for others:

a. Upwork

Companies or individuals looking to outsource their tasks will post on Upwork and freelancers submit pitches for application via that platform.

The payment on this site will vary from job to job, but there are a lot of freelancers out there who began on Upwork and got repeat customers from it.

The fee structure is as follows:

  • 20% for the first $500 billed
  • 10% for total billings of $500.01 to $10,000
  • 5% for total billings above $10,000

Upwork is not for authors alone. Other categories include gigs related to advertising, customer service and design.

b. Textbroker

Textbroker is also a great platform for teens to make money online. One great benefit is that you'll get a lot of practice with this site.

As you know, the more practice you have, the better  you become and the more clients would like to hire you.

Your pay really depends on whether the job is for an OpenOrder, DirectOrder, or TeamOrder. Here are the differences:

  • OpenOrder pays you per word, depending on your quality rating level.
  • DirectOrder is one that is directly sent to you. You can set your own rate on this one. The way it works is you get directorder if you've been working for a client and that client likes to hire you again. Or someone sees your profile and directly hires you.
  • TeamOrder is designed for those who work for the same clients consistently. These orders are open to any writers on your team on a first come, first serve basis. In short, there's no limit on how many teams you can join. Here's the caveat: The client sets up the rate per word for the whole team. Literally, there can be thousands of members per team.

13. Signing up for babysitting jobs

Pay: $10-$20/hour

Babysitting websites are now hiring teens in an online format.

Various websites allow parents to search for babysitters in their area who have had background checks and the proper qualifications.

How to get started: Sign up to be on the roster of a babysitting website and work for local families in your area.

As with the age requirement? If you are looking for online jobs for 13 year olds or above, this could be it.

14. Taking phone calls

Pay: $10-$15/hour

Companies often hire remote customer service representatives to handle their customer phone calls and complaints.

This can be performed as one of those work from home jobs.

If you are easy to talk to and are friendly, you could get a job as a virtual customer service representative and take the phone calls without ever having to leave the house.

How to get started: Search for companies who are looking to hire virtual CSRs and put your name in the running to be one of them.

jobs online for teens

15. Creating and selling items online

Pay: Varies depending on items sold

If you are crafty, you can make items and sell them online.

This is probably one of the easiest online jobs for students (teens).

Whether you use a craft website such as Etsy or one of the other numerous websites out there, this option is great for teens who want to take their creative talents and turn them into cash.

How to get started: Check out the sale website options and start making your creations to sell to the masses.

16. Becoming a customer service for U-Haul

If you are 16 years old or over and have a GED or a high school diploma, then, you can work as a customer service rep for U-Haul.

All you need is the following:

  • A computer with a Windows operating system.
  • A headset to talk to Uhaul customers.
  • VOIP software that U-Haul will help you set up.
  • Customer service experience is highly recommended, but not required.

Other requirements include:

  • You must type at least 25 words per minute.
  • You’ll be expected to work 35 hours per week. This may not work for you if you’re in school, but will work during the summer.

You will be trained for 4 weeks, which you will be compensated for. Completing the training will easily net you $50.

As a customer service representative, you will start earning at $7.50 to $8.50/hr.

17. Getting paid to review music

One thing is for sure, that is, a lot of teenagers listen to music.

Did you know you can get paid to do that? You can.

Sites like Slice the pie will pay you to leave feedback (positive or negative or indifferent) on tracks. This feedback will, then, help artists and record labels make better, more music that suit your tastes.

Believe it or not:

More than 38 million feedback has been given, and more than $4 million has been paid out to people just like you.

The process of signing up is easy:

  • Sign up from its homepage
  • You’ll then be asked which category of items you’d like to review
  • If you choose music, you’ll then click the play button and listen to the music for 90 seconds.
  • Then, you’ll submit your feedback.

That’s it.

If you like listening to music, why not get paid to do it, right?

For sure, this is one of the best online jobs for teens be it during summer time or any other time of the year.

ABOUT ME

I am Allan Liwanag – The Master of Practicality.
My family was indebted for $40K in 2013. Five years forward, we have saved more than $400K. We did that with trick-less, simple, effective money management that most people tend to overlook.
