How to Extreme Coupon at Walmart
There are basic things you need to know before you can extreme coupon at Walmart. Then, there are tricks you can also adopt to make sure you squeeze Walmart prices down to pennies or close to that.
Here are the things you need to know and do to win big at Walmart with extreme couponing:
1. Always know the rules.
Don't just go to Walmart assuming that what applies to non-Walmart stores applies to a Walmart store.
When I started extreme couponing at Walmart, I first thought that I could simply do what I did on others to Walmart.
Wrong. Big mistake.
It is always best to familiarize yourself with Walmart's policy on what's allowed and not. This will save you time and headache. Trust me on this. 🙂
Here are some rules that Walmart has that many people don't know about:
Walmart phased out its “Price Matching” policy.
If you are trying to price match using another store's price, be advised Walmart has phased out its famous price matching policy.
This means you can no longer take advantage of this policy when you want to lower Walmart prices even further.
Manufacturer, printable, and checkout coupons are valid as long….
Coupons are only valid if they have expiration dates, a remittance address, and a scannable barcode.
I've got several coupons that I accidentally cut off the expiration dates. Unfortunately, Walmart didn't allow me to use those coupons.
I truly understood what Walmart did and I knew it was my fault.
Walmart's double coupons
Does Walmart double coupons? This is one of those questions people ask. The answer is it doesn't. Having said that, you can still save a lot of money when you follow the other tricks on this post.
2. Always use your credit cards.
Don't just use any credit cards you have. Use the ones that allows price matching even after you've already purchased the products.
When I buy something and find the same product but for a lower price, I just need to call my credit card and tell about what I just found.
What it does next is credit my account for the difference between what I originally paid for and what the new found price is.
This price matching applies even when the product is found at a different store.
Side note: If you are looking to save money automatically, try Qapital. It lets you save for things you really want just by doing things you normally do. As simple and effortless as that.

3. Always use competitors' coupons.
While Walmart already phased out its popular “price matching” policy, you can still use competitors' coupons.
Because Walmart strives to be the store with the lowest or low prices, you can be sure that if you use these coupons, you will likely reduce the prices even further.
I was once afraid to use other stores' coupons at Walmart, but I learned that it is allowed. Since then, I have always used the competitor coupons to lower my checkout bill.
When I say competitors' coupons, what I mean by that is you can use coupons from other stores' circulars and even Catalinas (register coupons) that may have specific stores printed out.
Before you use these coupons, make sure the coupons state the expiration dates and specify what products and brands the coupon is for.
You can checkout my coupons section to see coupons you can use at Walmart.
Using competitors' coupons are a good way to extreme coupon at Walmart.
4. Always use money-making and money-saving apps.
The great way to save money and make money, at the same time, is through using apps.
These are rebates apps that you can use on top of coupons. These apps are keys to extreme coupon at Walmart.
A lot of stores, if not all, don't allow you to stack coupons, that is, they only allow one coupon per item.
You can seriously save and make a ton of money using these apps and using coupons at the same time.
The way this works is that you use your coupons to buy an item and, turn around, request for a rebate through Ibotta and Checkout51 for the same item.
Just make sure you claim rebates for products specific in these apps.
One more great thing is that you can use Ibotta and Checkout51 at the same time.
For example, if you have a coupon to use for an XXX ice cream, you can request a rebate from Ibotta and Checkout51 as long as that specific item is available for rebate in those apps.
Note: If you sign up using my Ibotta link, you can claim your $10 welcome bonus.

5. Always use coupon overage.
Walmart seems to be one of the only few stores out there that allows customers to keep the difference, if the coupon value is higher than the product cost.
If you buy a $1 XXX item from Walmart and the value of the coupon is $2.50, then, the coupon overage is $1.50. You get to buy the product for FREE and get $1.50 in return.
You can also use the $1.50 to pay other products you may have in your cart.
Sounds a great deal, right? It really is. You may end of with freebies and money in your pocket.
That sounds like a great deal to me. I call it ” Walmart freebies with coupons ” strategy.
This is a good strategy if you don't have a coupon for specific products but have a couple of coupon overages. You will be able to reduce your bill by taking advantage of coupon overage.
6. Always be on the look out for markdowns.
I always like it when Walmart marks down prices on many of its products. It doesn't do it that often, but when it does it really brings down the prices.
When you see clearances and other mark downs and have coupons for those, be sure to make use of them.
What's even better is that if you find those items on clearance or mark downs in your Ibotta and Checkout 51, then, it means you could get the products for dirt cheap, free, or even get money in return.
If you buy a lot of newspapers just to get coupons and have a lot of coupons that haven't been used, don't throw until they are expired. You never know when great deals would come.
Even when you don't think you need those coupons because you don't need the products, don't throw them. You can always buy those products (if they are free or close to being free) and donate them for good causes.
7. Always use the savings catcher.
While Walmart has stopped its price-matching policy, but it still matches prices via its Savings Catcher app.
When you scan your receipts into the app, Walmart will look at your competitors' advertised prices and see if their prices are lowered than Walmart's. If they are, then, Walmart will match the price and reimburse you the difference.
You will get the difference in the form of a Walmart e-gift card.
At one point, my wife and I were able to get money back to the tune of over $50 in one week.
I didn't have to do anything except using the app and scanning my receipts. Walmart did all the legwork.
8. Get access to matchups and coupon communities.
Do you know that there are Facebook communities or groups that are dedicated to getting the best deals with coupons. Some groups like Glitch Community are there to help out members find the best coupon deals this week, next week, or some other weeks.
These communities can help you find coupon matchups for free items, deals you can't find without any help, among others.
Ask me how much time I spend finding deals on Walmart? The answer is not a whole of time. That's because I use these communities to find the best Walmart deals this week, next week, or some other time.
These are the tips and tricks to extreme coupon at Walmart. They work and have worked so well for my family for a couple of years now. These are actionable steps that you can do easily.
