3. FreedomPop

Did you know that in the United States, adults will spend an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes each day on their smartphones, eight more minutes than they’ll spend watching TV?

With people spending so much time on their smartphones on the go, FreedomPop, an internet provider using hot spot technology, makes sense for a lot of consumers.

What’s great about a hot spot is that it provides you a point of access to the internet not only at your home but also in public locations.

FreedomPop is a great option for those who are commuters and take the train every day or are often away from home but still want to get their bang for their buck from their internet.

FreedomPop plans start at literally at zero dollars. Yes, you heard me right. There’s no-cost home internet. With this plan, you get 500MBs. For any additional data you use, you’ll be charged $0.02 per MB. This plan allows access to the 4G network only.

Yes, you’ll save more money easily with FreedomPop.

While the plan doesn’t offer you much usage time, the paid plans are pretty reasonably priced, ranging from $4 to $34. Here’s a breakdown and prices:

  • The Pro 500 Plan offers 500 MB of data per month, but for that $4 a month you get access to both 4G and 3G networks.

6. Xfinity by Comcast

Xfinity by Comcast is a more widely available how to get internet without cable with offerings in 40 states and servicing 110 million people. In fact, Comcast is the largest home internet service provider in the United States.

Xfinity by Comcast offers a variety of different plans at different speeds,  from 10 megabits per second to 2 gigabits per second. Plans start at $20 for speeds up to 25 Mbps and go as high as $80 for speeds up to 1000 Mbps.

If you’re looking to change internet service providers right away, I would definitely check out Xfinity by Comcast because many of the different plans offer a gift card (anywhere from $50 to $100!) for signing up.

Another example. Xfinity plan in the Minneapolis area comes without a TV subscription. If you’re purely looking for an internet plan and you live in that area, this is it for you.

The cost is just around $30 per month. Per this plan, you’ll see up to 60 mbps of speed. That’s a good one. In addition, you’ll be able to use this plan for up to 5 devices withou seeing any speed problem.

One thing to note though is that there may be additional charges if you go over 1TB of data usage per month. If you’re just a single user without numerous devices to connect and don’t do a lot of gaming, file sharing, etc., you may not have the problem of going over 1TB.

7. WOW Internet

Next on our list of how to obtain internet with no cable is Wow Internet, which services residential, business and wholesale customers in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Maryland and the Southeast.

The company is dedicated to delighting customers with friendly, quality service at affordable prices.

Click here to sign up for WOW Internet.

Internet 10

The Internet 10 plan simply providers up to 10 mbps of speed. This plan costs around $30 per month. This is best for single users with only a few devices. If you have a family and each has different devices, this plan will not work for you.

This is also not for those gamers since a higher mbps is necessary to run games smoothly. So, if you’re a gamer, you won’t benefit from this type of plan.

That said, you can try this first. If it doesn’t satisfy your needs, you can choose another plan later on. If it works for you, then, you may not find the need to go a higher and more costly plan.

Internet 100

If you need a higher mbps and don’t mind paying a few more dollars every month, the internet 100 plan could satisfy your needs.

For only $40 per month, you’d have up to 100 mbps of speed. That’s fast. Literally, you can run multiple devices at one time and not see any difference in speed quality. That’s how good this type of plan is.

If you’re looking for a faster upload speed, this plan is definitely for you. The upload speed with this plan is 10 mbps.

Internet 500

If you have mutiple members with multiple devices and have to have more than 100 mbps, your next best option is to go for the internet 500 plan.

The plan cost is around $60 per month. With that price, you will get 500 mbps of speed for download. That’s a lot and it’s really designed for homes with multiple users, those who want to stream and watch better video or two like Amazon videos, and games (i.e., those who consume a lot of data or speed).

As with the upload speed, this plan has an upload speed of 50 mbps.

Internet 1000

This is top plan from WOW.

If you absolutely have to have the fastest speed, then, you would want to try this one. It has 1000 mbps of speed and costs around $80 per month. This plan has an upload speed of 50 mbps.

This package is really designed for power streaming, VR gaming, and large file sharing.

  • Century Link 100-140 Mbps Plan. This plan can easily support at least 10 devices at one time. But how much is it? Believe it or not, it’s only $65 per month. That’s a decent plan for a substantially low-cost.

ABOUT ME

I am Allan Liwanag – The Master of Practicality.
My family was indebted for $40K in 2013. Five years forward, we have saved more than $400K. We did that with trick-less, simple, effective money management that most people tend to overlook.
