I know you're eyes and mind are saying “This guy is crazy. How can I get free WiFi at home?”
You're not alone.
A lot of people told me about that, too, especially when people spend over $50 per month on their internet bill.
For some people who want to make money from home, $50 is a big money.
But believe it or not:
There are ways you can get free home access for life.
Some people have:
- made over $4,000 in one month. That alone can pay years of internet bills
- used this data plan to get free access month after month
- used this trick to get internet for free while on the go
In this post, I will detail what these ways to get free internet at home are so you can save money now.

Before reading through the content, I'd like to answer some burning questions about how to get free net:
Can I get free internet at home?
The simple answer is yes. You don't need to pay $50 or more for that.
Aside from the ways detailed below, there are other ways to get your free net.
Most of us, if not all, have smartphones, and many of us have unlimited data that go along with our phones.
To get a free net, all you need to do is turn on the hotspot option on your phone and you now can connect other devices such as your iPad. As simple as that.
Another way is to contact your cable provider (if you have one).
Sometimes, they include free Wi-Fi hotspots with your subscription services. If you live in a city or close to the hotspots, you could literally get your internet for free.
Why do I want a free internet?
That's a great question.
If you want to know how to make a budget or want to be on a budget, your goal is to save as much and cut down on expenses as much as you can.
With internet bills hovering at $60 per month, you're looking at around $720 per year of unnecessary expense.
You wouldn't or shouldn't pay for something that you can get for free. You could easily spend that on food (see here for grocery list apps to save you money) or invest the money, and it let it grow for a number of years.
I've gone through thousands of posts and did thousands of queries/search to find the best ways to get the internet for free. That list is found in the next section of this post.
Can you get internet for free legally?
The answer is a simple yes. You can get that for free legally. It's my goal to help you find those ways to keep your internet bill as close to zero as possible.
I won't post anything on my site that will compromise your personal information or get you in any trouble. That's just not me.
Those ways are found below and are ready for you to put into action.

Easy Ways On How To Get Free Data
Believe it or not, there are free internet hacks to help you get net access for free. All you need is to take advantage of or use the things that you already have.
1. Get in the habit of using the internet to pay for itself
If you have an internet connection, chances are you are watching videos online, searching over the internet, making purchases, among others.
In that case, you might as well get paid for doing those. Period.
Literally, you use your web browser to search online, or visit YouTube and get points redeemable for cash, and use that money to pay for your internet bill.
You can do that with Swagbucks.
Actually, as I am typing this sentence, Swagbucks is paying me because I run one of its videos in the background.
I don’t even have to look at the video, and I still get paid.
Just spend a few minutes here and there and you’d be on your way to making enough to pay your monthly internet bill. That's what you call a great way to save extra money.
2. Answer a few questions and get paid
My wife and I used to get around $200/mo. That's more than enough for a service for a couple of months.
What's our secret?
Our secret is taking paid online surveys with our free time. What's the catch? Nothing. All you need to do is share your opinion. That's it.
Taking surveys is FREE, and you can use your survey money to pay for your internet. It's like you're not paying your internet service at all.
Best of all:
Imagine yourself voicing your opinions and getting paid at the same time. If you ask me, that's a win-win situation.
Here are some of the best survey sites to make money:
Here are some eye-opening facts:
Cost of the internet service continues to skyrocket. Sure, the service is vital but with questionable customer service and high fees, it is no surprise that many of the country's largest providers of this service leave a bad taste in the customers' mouths.
Right now, the average price of such service is around $60/mo. That's a whole lot of money.
Here are some ideas to help you save money when your net bill is high:
- Determine what speed you need. You don't need 100Mbps (for download) when you barely use your internet to watch videos, stream to radio, etc. Netflix even recommends a speed of 5Mbps for streaming HD videos. The lower the speed service you get, the lower the price of your bill.
- Know that's available in your area. You may be out of luck if you live in an area where there's only one service provider. If you live in a city, you'll find that there are a lot of providers in your area. Find out what your options are, compare them against each other, and negotiate. You'll get the best price doing this way.
- Buy your own modem and router. Providers will tell everything to convince you to rent out their equipment. Just say no. Their equipment is as good as the ones you can buy from Best Buy and other retailers.
Relatively Easy Ways To Get Internet Service
To tell you the truth, getting that free service doesn't mean you need to work thebn extra mile to get it. There are just those few things you have right now that only need some tweaking.
You'll be surprised that you did think these ways to get free internet legally before. You don't even need coupon apps to save money on internet service.
3. Get a deal from a company that offers free internet access like internet hotspot
Sure, you have a phone and data plan. You can access the internet just by using your phone. The reality is you still pay for that data plan. Yikes.
Now, there’s a way to get free internet phone without a data plan.
That’s what FreedomPop offers.
FreedomPop sends you a wireless router, which you can use as your connection point. Just turn on the device, and you can easily access the internet right away.
Some of these benefits include:
- WiFi calling and texting from anywhere (goodbye landline phones)

- Access at least 8 MILLION hotspots all over the U.S.
- Get a virtual number from anywhere in the world ←- This saves you roaming charges
The cost starts at ZERO dollars. Yes, it has FREE data and internet plans you can take advantage of now. With it, you may not need public Wi Fi, or free WiFi hotspots to access the net.
Here’s the deal:
Get a 10GB data plan for just $19.99/mo when you sign up for 12 months. No other carriers can beat that.

4. Use WiFi map
Do you know how to get free wireless internet using an app?
It’s called Wifi Map.
It’s like a database of all free Wi Fi hotspots all over the world. It is, by far, the best choice when you are on travel and need access to the internet.
For its free version, the app only allows you to search for free spot within a 2.5-mile radius.
That said, if you want more access that goes beyond the radius limit, you can watch some ads, and you’ll get access to user-provided WiFi passwords. From there, you can get that WiFi network hotspot.
5. Reduce a bill, and use the savings to pay for internet
As a starter, try to reduce your bills by cutting out unnecessary expenses, reducing necessary bills like grocery bills, downgrading services, finding cheaper alternatives, among others. See how to save money on groceries here.
When you're successful in doing that, use the savings towards other bills.
If you haven’t done this, aren’t sure where to start, or feel like there’s no way you can pull this off, there’s an app called Trim.
Trim will analyze your spending, find subscriptions to cancel, negotiate your bills, among others. See my Trim Review here.
You could literally save money from Trim and use that money towards getting free internet.
6. Use EveryoneOn
EveryoneOn is a nonprofit that creates social and economic opportunities by connecting everyone through the internet.
It’s accessible to disadvantaged and low-income families who may not always afford to have internet access.
The site is user-friendly and can help you determine if you qualify for a free internet access.
Just visit the site, click ‘Find Free Offers’, type in your zip code, answer a few questions, and you’ll see which offers are available for FREE or at cost.

Other Tips And Tricks To Get Free Internet Legally
These are some of the tips and tricks that many people tend to overlook at. Some of these will work for you and some don't.
Try each one of them to see which ones will work in your favor.
7. Ask a neighbor
If it’s not too much to ask, you can try to talk to your neighbors and see if they are willing to share their internet with you.
For sure, they have a wireless network.
You can offer something like a service in exchange for sharing their internet.
If you live in an apartment complex setting, this trick will work as the internet signal will reach from one apartment to another.
If you live in an area where houses are far apart, you are out of luck since the signal will be weak by the time it gets to you.
8. Use your hotspot
Typically, you have to have a data plan before someone or even you can use a hotspot.
If you ever have a company phone and your company allows you to use hotspot outside work, then, you can use that hotspot and it’s FREE.
That's one of the free internet hacks people tend to overlook many times.
Why and how?
For the most part, cell phone service plans – typically unlimited data, call for free plan – are paid by the company.
There's one thing you need to beaware of:
Just make sure to check in with your company to see if you can use the hotspot or not.
9. Go for the traditional routes
When I say traditional, go to places where free internet access is offered.
Almost all establishments especially bars, coffee shops, and restaurants offer free WiFi.
If you don’t want to go there, you can always visit your nearby libraries.
You can use their free public WiFi, and you can also use computers there for free.
Going to these places is, sometimes, cheaper and more practical especially if you are the type of person who doesn’t use the internet that much.
10. Check if your cable company offers completely free hotspots
Just like mobile broadband hotspots, you can take advantage of cable company’s hotspots, if there’s any.
Many cable companies offer hotspots for their current customers.
You just need to get in touch with your cable provider to get the information you need to get access to the hotspot(s).
11. Get free access from ISPs
Believe it or not:
A lot of internet service providers (ISPs) provide free internet access, of course, with certain limitations.
I don't really recommend using these free offers as your primary web connection if you need reliable service just because of so many limitations these ISPs impose.
That said, free internet services can come in handy when you need them.
Need to learn how to get free internet service. Here's a list of internet service providers, which include:
- NetZero Free Internet
- Free WiFi Hotspots
- All Free ISP
- SafeLink Wireless Lifeline
12. Sign up for Netzero and Juno
NetZero and Juno are some of the few ISPs, which offer up to 10 hours of free internet service per month.
For those who want to save money, this is a perfect solution.
Some of the free offerings can range from dial-up to broadband connection. So, if you a gamer or are looking for high-speed connection, check these two out first before making any decision.
Sign up for the NetZero’s free service here.
Believe it or not, service members or those who serve in the military are eligible for special discounts on other NetZero products and services.
Accessing Free Internet Safely
If you're fortunate to have gotten free access to the internet through special programs or some sort of those, then, you need to take extra precautions for your own personal information safe.
Here are some of the things you can do to protect yourself online:
1. Use secure websites
When you use easily-accessible internet, you are opening yourself to a lot of potentially dangerous, compromising security issues.
That's why it's important to be very vigilant and only go to sites that are trusted or secured.
To do this, check the URL of the site if has a security certificate. The best way to do this is to look if the site has “https”.
If it does, then, you are rest assured that it's a secured one. If it only has “http,” then, don't go there. As simple as that.
You can also look for certificate seals like PayPal or Verisign to ensure that it is a secured site. That said, don't just believe that these are legit, secured sites even when they have these cert signs. You'll never know if they are authenticated until you verify them.
2. Protect your personal information
Your personal information is the most important thing you need to protect.
Make sure you check your own computer security settings. You also need to have protections installed in your computer or laptop to include firewall and virus scanner.
These products can and will block other sites from accessing your information.
Second, you need to make sure your browser doesn't save cookies. This way, sites can't know what you are up to or what you search. This means that no cookies equal no traces of what you've just searched.
When you're using public computers, never go to sites where you need to put in your personal information. For example, don't do online banking when using public computers.
3. Avoid automatic connections
Never go for convenience to get access to the internet.
When you see a unsecured internet access, don't just use it right away. You'll never know the reason that such access is unsecured in the first.
Maybe it's one of the ways hackers use to lure unsuspecting internet users.
Another way to avoid automatic connections is to ensure the “Connect Automatically” in your phone or computer is unchecked at all times.
This way, your device won't connect when there's available, unsecured internet access.
Imagine what would happen if that unsecured line is operated by hackers and you've been using it for an hour or two now. Chances are, your information has already been compromised and stolen.
The safe way to do it is to never access anything that's unsecured. After all, that's why it's called unsecured.
You wouldn't share a story or anything from a stranger, would you?
When you're accessing free internet, never share files even with your friends or known acquaintances. Why? It's because transferring of files from one end to another, in an unsecured way, can be stolen.
If you're using file-sharing options like Google Drive or Dropbox, you might want to turn off the automatic syncing option. Just transfer the files when you have a secured connection.
This way, you are not opening up yourself to a lot of vulnerabilities. Sure, Google Drive and Dropbox may be secured but the connection you have may not be.
4. Use a VPN for added security
A VPN or commonly known as a virtual private network is a great way to add extra security when you're accessing the free internet in an unsecured way.
This network encrypts your personal information and provides as a barrier when data or information is transferred from one connection to another. This way, you know you're not passing information to potential hackers.
The best thing from this VPN:
You can even conceal the origin of your connection. In short, you can be tagged as connected from New Zealand when you're really in the U.S.
