April 2017 Blog Income Report: I Made $7,844.95 Last Month

This post may contain affiliate links. See disclosure policy.

Hi, everyone!

Welcome to my April 2017 income report.

I managed to do what I did last month, that is, got ahead of creating my blog posts well-ahead of schedule. I was able to create all my blog posts for April back in March. I'm still ahead with my blog posts for May.

By the time you read this income report, it is already June. Haha.

That's because my wife and I are in the process of buying a house.

I've been quite busy at work and in my personal life these past months. I only put in 10 hours for blogging. Thank goodness I was able to get all my blog posts done.

This past April, I started ramping my effort on building my site to be SEO-friendly. I am working with my niece to make sure that my blog and posts are optimized for SEO purposes.

For those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see how my blog has progressed over the past couple of months, here is the information. I compiled all my total income for 2016 and monthly reports for this year for easy access and just to give an idea how I have done (money-wise) with my blog.

Before I show you my blog traffic and earnings for April 2017, let me tell you why I wanted to blog my income.

  • Reward. Before I started blogging, I knew nothing about blogging, side hustling, and making money online. I didn't think that side jobs were possible especially when I had a full-time job. If it weren't for other people who published their monthly income reports, I wouldn't have tried blogging. I want to show people they can earn money through blogging. Blogging has changed our family's life forever. Now, we no longer worry about money. Now, we are financially independent and debt-free because of blogging. Now, I earn over $7K/mo, which is more than my take-home pay for my full-time job.
  • Income Progression. I like to see my progression (income) from one month to another and want to share it with other people. This allows me to track how my income has improved through blogging along. It's more like my online journal.
  • Inspiration. I was the guy who was struggling to make ends meet for his family. I was skeptical about blogging at first, but I took a chance and tried it anyways.  A lot of bloggers have messaged me and told me that I encouraged them to go further with their blogging journey or purse blogging because of what I have done and what I have accomplished. For many, I was an inspiration especially for those who wanted to quit early on in their blogging journey.

I've said this a ton of time, that is, blogging has been one the best decisions I've ever made. How I wish I started this a long time ago. Now, my family is living the American Dream. For a Filipino immigrant who wanted to have a better life, what we have right now is more than what I asked for and dreamt of. That's that to blogging.

I MADE $7,844.95 LAST MONTH

My blog income for April 2017 decreased by 1.27% from March. My blog traffic decrease to 181,994 visits from 184,335 from last month. A lot of my friend bloggers have told me that I should spend more time on my blog and make a lot more efforts to monetize it since my blog traffic is going great.

As much as I want to, I can only spend a couple of hours a day or every month.

There are so many things going on at work and at home that need more attention than blogging. I should say 24 hours in a day is not enough. Haha.

To improve my income, I employed several income strategies.

These strategies included working with advertising networks and becoming affiliates for products and services I use, which helped me earn commissions when people sign up for such products and services.

I also allowed businesses to do guest posts on my blog and/or to be mentioned in my post for a set fee.

I don’t promote products I won’t use or even recommend to my loved ones. I turned down a lot of great opportunities from a lot of companies because I didn’t feel my readers or I could benefit from what they offer. I just don't want to compromise my beliefs.

I also focused more on Pinterest and bought a course for Pinterest. I've been applying the lessons I have learned from the course.

The main reason I bought this course is that I want to capitalize more on the power of Pinterest regarding generating traffic and additional income for my blog. Even though I haven't put everything I learned into practice, I've seen a lot of traffic gains already.

Here are the products and services I recommend for those who want to make money, save money, and better manage their finances. I get these offers mostly from my ad networks.

  • I did not know anything about coding, WordPress, and other things related to blogging. With Bluehost, you can create your blog in 15 minutes or less. I took a chance, and it paid off. I earned over $34,0000 in 2016. For $2.95/month, you have little or nothing to lose but, potentially, a ton to gain. Not sure if blogging is for you or don’t know where to start? My tutorial will help you establish a blog in 15 minutes or less.

Affiliate Networks: 4,144.87

  • I managed to have tried a lot of affiliate networks in the past couple of months. After trying and testing all of them, I have finally found the affiliate networks that have allowed me to earn additional money. If you are looking for affiliate networks, I highly recommend these networks: iGainOffer JuicePanthera NetworkShare-A-Sale, and FlexOffers.

Advertisements: $2,054.39

  • The ads I have are from AdThrive, Google Adsense, NewsMax, and Smart Asset. If your traffic is above 100K a month, I highly suggest you look into getting into AdThrive. Its customer service and the payout are really good.

  • Tailwind is the reason my traffic increased in such a short time. I've been blogging for less than a year but my traffic per month hovers around 180K now. If you sign up using my link, you will get $15 as well. There's a Tailwind Free Trial, and you can also subscribe for $9.99/month when you sign up for a year. You can always contact me for FREE if you have any Tailwind questions. I don't charge for helping bloggers, but if you want to donate, you can do that as well. 🙂

Budget Printables$134.91

  • I created my Budget Printable Binder Kit this April. It contains the exact budgeting worksheets that my wife and I used to help us get out our $40K debt and save more than $70K in just 2.5 years. The binder kit is currently on sale for only $7.99, which is 65% off of its original price of $19.99. This price won't be here for long. So, if you are looking for binder kit to help you fix your budget, I highly recommend you grab this binder kit on sale.

Sponsored Posts/Mentions: $760.78 I got around six sponsored posts/mentions this past month. I could have done a few more but time was not on my side. I'll do better this May.

Total Gross Income: $7,844.95

My blog, The Practical Saver, is doing well despite me cutting down my hours on blogging.

My wife and I discussed that since I am making more money now that it's ok to cut down on hours on blogging even more. We decided that 5 hours per month is more than enough.

I don't worry that my blogging income will go down because all of my posts are evergreen. This means that no matter what season or month it is, my posts are relevant and will keep on generating income.

That's a good thing about blogging. Once the post is live and doing well, it will keep on making money over and over again.

My family is a simple, thankful family. Our family is our number 1 priority. While many say that I could earn way more if I put more time into blogging, I say that there needs to be balanced between blogging and family.

Money is good, but family is my priority.

I don't intend to quit my job as many other bloggers did. I have no reason to quit. I love my job and that's more than enough reason for me to stay with it. My family doesn't need to make money more to be happy.

Money can bring happiness, but more time with my family is the more important.

Some other blogging updates and other life events include:

  • I'm thinking of hiring a Pinterest assistant to work on my Pinterest. This is my way of letting go of some aspects of my blog. I like to work smarter and more efficient.
  • I wish to make over $10,000 per month by the end of the first half of the year. We'll see about that, but it's a goal and a wish. If I meet that goal, great. If I don't, then, I won't sweat about it because I am thankful to earn money from blogging. Blogging is a hobby, and it's not something I should be stressing about.
  • My wife and I hope that we get a house by the end of July. As you already know, house payments will be paid by blogging. We are excited to have a house we can call home.

If you've reached this portion of my income report, you're probably thinking of starting your blog. You may be scared to jump into something you haven't tried before.

Don't worry, I've been there and so do many bloggers out there.

I was a new blogger, and I felt the same feeling that you might be feeling right now. You are not alone in the boat.

I'd appreciate it if you use my affiliate link to sign up for a new Bluehost account for just $2.95/mo.  That's the rate I negotiated with Bluehost exclusively for my readers.

You won't see this price this low. Also, as a token of appreciation, I will give you my e-book entitled “15+ Strategies I Applied To Skyrocket My Blog’s Page Views from 0 to 170K in 9 Months“. This e-book has been downloaded and purchased by over 850 people.

In this e-book, I detailed the exact strategies I adopted to drastically improve my blog’s page views from 0 to 170K in just nine months.

The regular price is $39.99, but yours for FREE. Just send me an email of your purchase receipt, and I will send you the e-book right away. Here's an easy blog tutorial to get your blog setup in just 15 minutes or less.

I realized that a lot of the readers of my income reports are those who consider blogging and making money from it. I’ve been asked by a lot of people why I blog. Now, I am returning the question to you. What would blogging do for you?

Blogging is more than just a hobby. You could benefit well from it, seriously.

I stated at the beginning of this post that my wife and I are buying a house. The things I didn't tell you about it is that the down payment for the house will come from my blogging money. The monthly payments will come out from my blogging money as well.

Yes, all the house payments and down payment will be coming from my blogging money. If you consider creating your own blog and monetizing it, here are some of the benefits:

  • Help. As a blogger, you can help other people with your knowledge and expertise. For example, I was in deep debt before but was able to get out of it quickly. Because I’ve experienced that and some other finance-related experiences, I have been able to share my thoughts and experiences and help others even in the smallest possible ways.
  • Authority. When you become a well-known blogger, and your blog’s content is the go-to site for a lot of people, you are growing or become the authority in whatever niche your blog is in.
  • Money. You can make full-time money by working part-time. I do this now. I only put in roughly 15 hours a month on my blog and still make full-time money. You can even retire, travel the world, and not worry about money because blogging makes money for you.
  • Network. I can’t tell you enough how blogging is a great way to expand your network. This network will be there for you from a personal and professional standpoint. I don’t think I’d survive my first year without my fellow bloggers.
  • Personal relationshipMy relationship with my wife has gone to another level because of blogging. My wife and I work closely with my blog. She’s the brain, and I am the writer. We communicate and exchange ideas; we help out each other to make sure I write the best post I could write and others. Blogging helps us become closer and have a better marriage than ever before.
  • So many more. There are a ton of other benefits you can gain from blogging.

There goes my April 2017 Income Report. If you have any questions about blogging, please email me at [email protected] I'd be happy to answer all your blogging questions for FREE. See you all!
